Research Triangle Park, NC - The Freelon Group, an award-winning Architecture Interiors and Planning firm with offices in Research Triangle Park and Charlotte, North Carolina, is pleased to announce the following promotions:

 

Senior Associate-

 

Art Lin, Design Architect - Lin joined The Freelon Group ten years ago and currently serves as a Lead Design Architect. Over the years, his work has been recognized with numerous honors, including AIA design awards at the local, state, and regional levels.



Lin, who received a master in architecture in 1993 from Georgia Institute of Technology, incorporates his technical expertise and knowledge of varied building types to emphasize and support quality design. His most recently completed designs include the Maryland Museum of African American History and Culture in Baltimore, Maryland, and the General Aviation Terminal at RDU International Airport in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.



Derek Jones, Project Manager -
As Project Manager and Senior Interior Design Architect, Jones provides project management and interior design services on a wide range of project types, including corporate offices, transportation facilities, theaters, and museums.

 

In his 15-year career, Jones has completed projects for Kodak, Scholastic Publishing, Hewlett-Packard, and Nissan Motor Company. He is currently working on the Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco, California and five transit stations for the Triangle Transit Authority.

 

Associate-

 

Cindy Messick, Construction Administrator - Messick has worked within the construction industry for over twenty years. Her expertise ranges across many areas of governmental, educational, and commercial construction with particular experience in field production, cost accounting, scheduling, estimating, and construction law.

 

As a founding member of the NC chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), she has held numerous official positions, including Chairman for the 1999 Regional Annual Planning Conference which covered Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Messick also holds instructor's certificates from OSHA for both the General 1910 Standards and Construction 1926 Standards.

 

Previous projects include the Concourse A Connection at Charlotte Douglas Airport, the Facilities Services Center at Central Piedmont Community College, and Lincoln Heights and Endhaven Elementary Schools of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System.
