The Freelon Group Architects was honored in the Unbuilt Category of the AIA (American Institute of Architects) North Carolina 2005 Design Awards. The firm was recognized for its design of the James C. Renick School of Education at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. This project is scheduled for completion in January 2007.

Ten awards were presented at the annual Design Awards Banquet held in August in Richmond, Virginia. A total of 126 entries were submitted from across North Carolina. Each winning project was deemed by a jury of four professionals to have met or exceeded benchmarks of good architecture.
