The Diamondview Offices at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park

Diamond View is a four-story office building located in Durham, NC, adjacent to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.  The baseball park and office building are situated in the American Tobacco District adjacent to the Central Business District, which is slated for additional revitalization and growth.  The historic tobacco warehouses and associated structures dating back to the early 1900’s form the context.   The Class “A” office building responds to the historical context by “borrowing” some of the traditional massing elements, materials, and brick detailing from the older buildings.
 
A departure from the typical speculative office building, Diamond View’s unique location and context-sensitive design provided the owner and tenants with an attractive alternative to the ubiquitous suburban box with banded windows.  Representing the architect’s and owner’s commitment to the Urban Center, the building contributes significantly to Durham’s push toward downtown revitalization.
